General Information About the Department

Today's economy is developing rapidly, and with the effect of technology, new trade trends are emerging daily. With an accurate and fast accounting system, trade can function properly and contribute to the country's economy. Accounting is about financial data. Accounting is the art of recording, analyzing, and interpreting data. Using technological devices such as computers in accounting is very important as it allows to do more work faster and more. In our department, students who want to make a career in their profession are equipped with the necessary theoretical and practical infrastructure. They should start business life and are knowledgeable in accounting, finance, and financial legislation, which the accounting and finance sector needs, who use accounting package programs on the computer effectively, and which are used in commercial life to the bill. We aim to train personnel who can work according to appropriate procedures and principles, who have gained the habit of working in a planned and systematic way, and who can keep up with the era and technological developments. Our students who graduate with the title of "Accounting Professional" have the knowledge and skills to set up and operate the accounting system of a business.

 

Education

Our Accounting and Tax Applications Program is an associate degree program that provides education for two years. In the first year, to comprehend the basic professional information in the accounting field, recognize the accounting documents, learn the functions and importance of accounting, make the basic mathematical and scientific calculations required by the accounting field, and create accounting records. Thereby, students can follow the legislation related to the profession, use information technologies, and have written information about the work. And verbal communication and professional ethics are tried to be gained. In the second year, practical knowledge is given about the sector and profession, especially in the region. Thus, students can comprehend the principles of preparing financial statements and analyze the economic structure. Also, they use monetary values ​​in the decision-making process, organize all kinds of documents related to the profession in the computer environment, and use accounting package programs to analyze the financial structure. In addition, the place of tax law in the legal system, its sources, the application of resources, the basic concepts of taxation, the taxation process, the tax laws applied in our country, and the applicable principles of these laws are taught. Students are required to take and succeed in 120 credits of courses to graduate. Our university's grading system is 4.00, and an average of 2.00 is required for graduation. The internship is not compulsory; if it is done, it is stated in the transcript document. In addition, the place of tax law in the legal system, its sources, the application of resources, the basic concepts of taxation, the taxation process, the tax laws applied in our country, and the principles of application of these laws are taught. Our program makes a difference with its rich and experienced academic staff. The instructors in our program consist of academic staff with more than 20 years of industry experience with the title of SMMM, have their accounting package programs in the sector, have published books in the field of SMMM Internship Entrance and Proficiency Exam, and have done studies.

Job Opportunities and Working Areas of Graduates

Our students who graduated from the Accounting and Tax Applications Program are in high demand in both the private and public sectors. The job opportunities and working areas of our graduates are extensive. When various career (job postings) sites are examined, department graduate students are at the forefront of the programs whose services are most needed. After graduation, our students can enter the profession as pre-accountant, professional accountants, accounting officers, accounting chiefs, and accounting assistants in SMMM or YMM offices or companies. With the increase in work experience, you can become an accounting specialist, accounting manager, senior accounting manager, senior cost accounting specialist, audit specialist, and audit manager in various companies over time. Our students who wish to transfer to undergraduate programs with DGS and graduate from the undergraduate program fulfill the requirements of the SMMM and CPA Law No. 3568 (to pass the internship entrance exam, to do an internship for three years, to pass the proficiency exam and to get the SMMM license). So they win the title of Independent Accountant and Financial Advisor; it can provide accounting and consultancy services to businesses in its own independent offices. Our students, who prefer to work in the public sector, can take the KPSS B group exam, get high scores, and take up positions in the accounting units of various state institutions.
